All manuscripts submitted to VIGILANTIA undergo an initial editorial screening to assess:

  • Relevance to the journal’s Focus and Scope
  • Originality
  • Scientific quality
  • Ethical compliance
  • Completeness of the manuscript
  • Compliance with the Author Guidelines

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to at least two independent reviewers with relevant scientific expertise.

VIGILANTIA applies a double-blind peer-review process, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed from each other throughout the review process.

Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on the following criteria:

  • Scientific originality
  • Appropriateness and rigor of the research methodology
  • Validity of data and analysis
  • Accuracy of scientific interpretation
  • Relevance and significance of the research
  • Ethical considerations
  • Quality and appropriateness of references
  • Clarity of presentation
  • Contribution to biological and public health sciences

Based on the editorial assessment and reviewers’ recommendations, possible decisions include:

Accept – Minor Revision – Major Revision – Reject and Resubmit – Reject

The final editorial decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief or a designated editor, taking into consideration the scientific quality of the manuscript, reviewers’ recommendations, and the journal’s editorial standards.
